Dental services at Lumina
Everything you'd want to know before booking: what we offer, how your visit will go, and straight answers to the questions patients ask most.
Orthodontics
Your orthodontic plan starts with a 3D intraoral scan instead of messy impressions, followed by a simulation of your finished smile. We offer clear removable aligners as well as metal and ceramic fixed braces for teens and adults.
What to expect
- Consultation with a full exam, digital scan and panoramic X-ray
- A preview of your result, with clear options and pricing
- Fitting your braces or handing over your first set of aligners
- Follow-up visits every 6–8 weeks until you reach the final result
Frequently asked questions
Are clear aligners right for me?
Aligners suit most cases of crowding, gaps and mild to moderate bite problems. After your scan, the orthodontist will tell you honestly whether aligners or fixed braces will give you the better result.
Do braces hurt?
You may feel mild pressure for a few days after each adjustment. It's normal and fades quickly, and we'll give you simple tips to stay comfortable.
Am I too old for orthodontics?
No. We see children from age 7 for early treatment, and adults of any age as long as their gums and bone are healthy.
Dental implants
Implants are the most stable way to replace one or several missing teeth. We plan each implant on a 3D CBCT scan and place it using a digital surgical guide, which makes the procedure more precise, quicker and more comfortable.
What to expect
- Exam and 3D CBCT scan to assess your bone
- Implant placement under local anaesthetic, usually in one visit
- A healing period of 8–12 weeks, with a temporary tooth if needed
- Fitting your final porcelain crown, shade-matched to your teeth
Frequently asked questions
Does getting an implant hurt?
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you won't feel pain during it. Most patients say the following days were easier than expected, and any discomfort is managed with simple painkillers.
How long do implants last?
With good daily care and regular check-ups, an implant can last for many years — often for life.
What if I don't have enough bone?
Some cases need a bone graft or sinus lift first. If so, your dentist will explain it at the first visit as part of your treatment plan and quote.
Teeth whitening
We start with a clean and a look at what's causing the staining, then help you choose between in-clinic whitening for an instant result or custom-fitted trays for gradual whitening at home. Our gels are approved, enamel-safe and formulated to minimise sensitivity.
What to expect
- Exam, clean and a record of your current shade
- Protecting your gums, then applying whitening gel in stages
- Measuring your new shade against your before photo
- 48-hour aftercare tips to protect the result
Frequently asked questions
Is whitening bad for my teeth?
Done under dental supervision with approved gels, whitening is safe for enamel. Some people feel temporary sensitivity for a day or two.
How long do results last?
Typically one to two years, depending on your habits — less coffee, tea and smoking means longer-lasting results.
Cosmetic dentistry & veneers
We design your smile digitally before touching a tooth, so you can see the veneers on your own photo and help choose their shape and shade. We use ultra-thin porcelain with minimal preparation for a result that looks natural and suits your features.
What to expect
- Digital smile design session with face and teeth photos
- A trial smile in your mouth so you can approve the look
- Minimal preparation and digital scans
- Bonding your final veneers and fine-tuning your bite
Frequently asked questions
Porcelain or composite veneers?
Porcelain resists staining and lasts longer; composite costs less and can be done in a single visit. Your dentist will help you choose what suits your teeth and budget.
Will my smile look natural?
That's our first priority. We consider your face shape, skin tone and lip line, and you approve the look during the trial stage before anything is fitted.
Pediatric dentistry
A child's first visits shape how they feel about the dentist for life. That's why we have a dedicated kids' room, explain every step in simple words, and focus on prevention — fluoride and fissure sealants — before any treatment.
What to expect
- A short meet-and-greet so your child gets to know us
- A gentle check-up, clean and fluoride treatment
- A clear prevention plan for parents, with home-care tips
- Six-monthly check-ups with a reminder beforehand
Frequently asked questions
When should my child's first visit be?
When the first tooth appears, or by their first birthday. Catching things early keeps treatment simple.
My child is scared of the dentist. How do you help?
We start with a visit with no treatment at all, and use a tell-show-do approach so your child feels safe at every step. A parent can stay with them throughout.
Root canal treatment
A root canal saves a tooth that would otherwise need to come out. We treat under a dental microscope with electronic measuring tools to clean every canal thoroughly — usually in one or two visits, with effective local anaesthetic.
What to expect
- Diagnosis with digital X-rays to find the cause of the pain
- Local anaesthetic, then cleaning and disinfecting the canals under the microscope
- Sealing the canals and closing the tooth with a filling
- A crown if needed, to protect the tooth long-term
Frequently asked questions
Is a root canal painful?
With modern anaesthetic it feels much like a normal filling — and its whole purpose is to get rid of the pain you already have.
Will I need a crown afterwards?
Usually yes for back teeth, which take the force of chewing; front teeth often just need a tooth-coloured filling. Your dentist will advise after the exam.
Not sure which treatment you need?
Book a general consultation and check-up — your dentist will talk you through the options with clear pricing.
